Inaugurates and lays foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs. 103 crore in area

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing public during the programme organized at famous water sports venue at Taleru today on the concluding day of The Himalayan Ghoral 9th National Dragon Boat Race Competition organized under Chalo Chamba Abhiyan said that this campaign would go a long way in giving new dimensions to the tourism development in Chamba district.

As many as 800 participants from 19 states took part in the Chalo Chamba Abhiyan competition. Assuring all possible assistance by the state government for organizing various activities in this series, the Chief Minister said that despite limited resources, the competition has been organised successfully with the active participation of the district administration and the local people.  This is an important initiative towards self-reliance.

Referring to the rich art and folk culture of the district, Jai Ram Thakur said that by connecting the natural beauty, handicraft, sculpture, crafts, stone art and famous products with tourism, the economy of the artists and craftsmen associated with them would also be strengthened. He also said that today Chamba Rumal has been successful in making its identity at the international level, which is a matter of pride for the people of the state.

The Chief Minister announced the opening of a government college in Dalhousie, fulfilling the long pending demand of the people of Dalhousie area. He announced to start the classes of science faculty in Government Senior Secondary School Tikru, upgrading Government High School Ganargad to Senior Secondary school, upgrading Government Primary Schools Jatota and Chhana to Middle Schools and Government Middle Schools Ladher and Jatrahan to High Schools.

While announcing the opening of Primary Health Centre in Karwal, he assured to upgrade the Primary Health Centre Sundla to Community Health Centre after inspecting various departmental formalities. The Chief Minister also directed the concerned department to take action regarding the proposal to open a Government Polytechnic Institute at Lachori.

The Chief Minister also directed the Public Works Department to start the construction work on Naddal-Jutran link road and two other roads at the earliest after completing all formalities.

Referring to the development works under Dalhousie Assembly Constituency, the Chief Minister said that out of 24 announcements made under various developmental projects in this area, the work of 19 projects has been completed and the work on the remaining five projects is in progress. In Dalhousie Assembly Constituency, more than three times work has been done during the four year tenure of the present government as compared to the tenure of the previous government. During this period four major bridges have also been constructed along with providing road facilities to 14 highly populated villages.

Jai Ram Thakur said that under Grihini Suvidha Yojna, 3.25 lakh gas connections have been provided while two lakh people have been provided free treatment facility Himcare Scheme. He said that women from poor families are being benefitted by Shagun Yojana.

The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stone of developmental projects worth about Rs. 103 crore during his visit. These include the inauguration of the augmentation works of the water supply scheme Bhunad-Bhatogi, newly constructed building of Government Senior Secondary School, Kihar, link road Dandi to Bharai road (Phase-II), link road Bhalei to Dhar (Phase-II), link road to Village Dughar (Phase-II), link road from Kainthali Nala to Bhidroh (Phase-I), link road Manola Rest House to Mandhiyar, link road Odu Mor to Kakiana and Lift Drinking Water Scheme Sherpur.

He also inaugurated Chief Minister Lok Bhawan Banikhet. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Sub-Tehsil Telka.

Foundation stones laying of augmentation works of drinking water supply scheme Dhar-Gwalu-Karwal and drinking water supply scheme for Dalhousie Kasba. He also laid foundation stone of building of Ayurvedic dispensary building Bhalai and girls hostel of Government Polytechnic Institute Banikhet and Art and Craft Center Bhalai.

Chief Minister also released the theme song of Chalo Chamba Abhiyan and the special issue of The Traveller’s Trails magazine. He presented medals and trophies to the winners of the Water Sports competition.

Deputy Commissioner D.C. Rana detailed about various activities being organized under Chalo Chamba Abhiyan.

District Agricultural Produce Market Committee President D.S. Thakur and President Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association S.M. Hashmi also expressed their views. President Kayaking and Canoeing Association Himachal Pradesh and Principal Secretary Revenue Onkar Sharma thanked the Chief Minister and all the dignitaries present and all the departments and institutions who cooperated in organizing the competition.

Chief Whip, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Bikram Singh Jarial, MLAs Jia Lal Kapoor and Pawan Nayyar, President District Agricultural Produce Market Committee D.S. Thakur, Vice President Scheduled Castes Tribes Development Corporation Jai Singh, Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association President S.M. Hashmi, State President Kayaking and Canoeing Union and Principal Secretary Revenue Onkar Sharma, District BJP President Jasveer Nagpal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
