The State Government was committed for empowerment of the women and has initiated several schemes for their socio-economic upliftment. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the women from different walks of life who had assembled to tie Rakhis on his wrist to celebrate ‘Rakshabandhan Parv’ on the eve of Rakshabandhan. This event was organized by the Members of BJP Mahila Morcha.
Chief Minister said that women constitute about 50 per cent of our total population and one cannot even think of development without active participation of women. He said that it was during his tenure as Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister that 50 percent reservation was provided to women in PRIs and ULBs. This was done to ensure their active participation in the development process, he added.
Jai Ram Thakur said the present State Government has launched Mukhyamantri Shagun Yojna, Beti Hai Anmol, Grihini Suvidha Yojna etc. for empowerment of women. He said that all these schemes had a vision to improve the socio-economic status of women. He said that the State government has also provided 50 per cent concession on bus fare in HRTC buses.
President State BJP Mahila Morcha Rashim Dhar Sood, while thanking the Chief Minister for always being considerate towards empowerment of the women, assured the Chief Minister of wholehearted support of the women in coming elections. She also tied Rakhi on the wrist of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
Vandna Guleria and other functionaries of the Morcha, BJP IT Convener Ridhimma were also present on the occasion among others.
Representatives of Brahamakumaris and women representatives of Tibetan community living in Shimla, Nurses, women advocates, female police officials, Mahila Morcha members etc also tied Rakhi on the wrist of the Chief Minister on the occasion.
