The traders play an important role in giving boost to the economy of the State and the State Government is committed to protect the interests of the traders. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this while addressing the meeting of Himachal Pradesh Veopar Mandal held at Mandi today.
He said that on the suggestions of traders, GST has been simplified from time to time, similarly GST would also be simplified in future as well, keeping in view the possibility of amendments.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government is considerate towards the issues of Veopar Mandal. Terming the dialogue as a solution to the problem, the Chief Minister said that in near future, a meeting of the officials of the State Veopar Mandal will be held in Shimla in the presence of the concerned departmental heads. Various issues would be discussed in the meeting and efforts would be made to resolve the issues. He said that efforts would also be made to provide relief in market fees.
Chief Minister appreciated the contribution made by the traders during the lockdown and said that immense contribution was given by the traders to the Government in providing essential food supplies to the people of the state. The traders has also made a significant role in assisting the administration in making the food supplies and essential commodities available at the doorstep of the people during the curfew.
He said that the State Government is striving to expand the international level infrastructure in the State by exploiting the immense potential available in Himachal Pradesh from tourism point of view. In this direction, priority has been given to construction of Shiv Dham in district Mandi, which is important for development of religious tourism. He said that foundation stone of Shiv Dham would be laid soon. He said that the tender process for providing the parking facility in Mandi has also been completed and the foundation stone of parking would be laid by the end of this month. Besides this, priority would also be given to the construction of grain market in the district.
MLA Jogindernagar Prakash Rana was also present in the meeting.
President, State Veopar Mandal Sumesh Sharma detailed the demands of the traders. District President, Veopar Mandal Mandi Rajesh Mahendru, welcomed Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur, Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri, Sub Divisional Magistrate Civil Sadar Mandi Navedita Negi, General Secretary State Veopar Mandal Rakesh Kalia and office bearers of District Veopar Mandal were also present in the meeting.
