Governor stresses on conducting special campaign on drug de-addiction
Governor Bandaru Dattatraya interacted with officials of Shimla District Administration today at Bachat Bhawan and inquired about various welfare schemes implemented by the Central and State Government.
Deputy Commissioner Amit Kashyap welcomed the Governor and made him aware of the status of various schemes of public welfare.
On the occasion, the Governor said that the purpose of his interaction with the district administration was to get information about various public welfare schemes and its benefits to general public. He lauded the efforts of district administration for better implementation and achievements made on various schemes. He directed the officers to spend more time in field and emphasized on result-oriented work. He said that new initiatives should be taken in various programs like Fit India, Natural Farming, Beti Bachhao-Beti Padhao, Skill Development etc. so that people could be educated about these programmes.
He said that people have high expectations from the officers as through them they get benefit of the schemes and they should work with greater readiness and more dedication. He congratulated the district for securing a place in 10 major districts of the country last year under Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao scheme. He said that the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India had given a national award for creating awareness and promoting activities under this scheme and this sequence should continue even further. He directed the Education Department and other line departments to work in coordination.
The Governor stressed the need to conduct special campaigns on drug de-addiction in the district. He said that social media should be fully utilized for this and an effective awareness campaign should be conducted under the campaign by involving all educational institutions.
Amit Kashyap said that 59917 beneficiaries were being provided services under the Women and Child Development Program, till November 2019. He apprised that 934 mothers and 1448 children have been benefitted under the Mother Teresa Ashaya Matri Sambal Yojana, this year. He said that under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, so far, Rs. 4.92 crore has been provided to 12289 beneficiaries. He said that under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, 31272 persons have been benefited by spending Rs. 30.69 crore by October 31.
Superintendent of Police Omapati Jamwal said that a massive campaign was being carried out against the drug in the district. Around 410 awareness sessions, 55 rallies, 26 drawing competitions, 10 yoga camps, 206 challans in addition to sports activities, health camps etc. were also being conducted. He said that about 1235 institutes have been brought under this campaign.

Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Shimla Pankaj Rai Additional Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, Additional District Magistrate Protocol Sandeep Negi, Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kapoor, Sub-Divisional Officer Urban Neeraj Chandla, Sub-Divisional Officer Rural Neeraj Gupta and officials of other departments were also present on the occasion.
