Governor Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur have mourned the demise of former MLA and Minister Rikhi Ram Kaundal who passed away on Tuesday morning following cardiac arrest.
He represented Jhandutta Assembly Constituency of Bilaspur district five times and remained Minister of state for Co-operation from 1998-2003 and twice served as Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly during 1990-92 and 2007-2012.
Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that Rikhi Ram Kaundal was an honest politician, who would be remembered for his contribution to the state.
The Governor prayed to the Almighty to give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
In his condolence message, Chief Minister said that he is extremely saddened over the demise of Rikhi Ram Kaundal, who rendered his valuable service to the state and his Assembly Constituency.
The Chief Minister has expressed his deep condolences with the bereaved family members and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
