Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi presided over the conclusion function of 5th International Film Festival of Shimla in Gaiety theatre here today.
He said that State has been bestowed with natural beauty, panoramic views, snow-clad mountains and beautiful locations which were filmed in many movies. Shimla is the cultural capital for the tourists. He especially praised the short film ‘Tanak’ which encouraged people to donate eyes. He said that this kind of events should be organized more often to promote films in the State. He thanked all the film directors and film makers for coming to Shimla.
Chief Secretary concluded the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of Shimla with prize distribution.
The 5th International Film Festival of Shimla ends with screening of 20 national, international and regional films and music videos. Documentaries including, Glide Bir Billing by Novita Singh from Bir, Himachal Pradesh, The hope of tomorrow by Gul Reyaz from J&K, The Birth of a Life by Bizoy Mahmud from Bangladesh, The Divine Get-Together by Gitesh Gupta from Shimla, Budhi Diwali by Mela Ram Sharma from Shimla and Alone in The Combat Zone by Monjul Baruah from Assam were screened.
Short films including Aapke Aa Jane se by Shailaditya Bora from Mumbai, The Phish Tale by Shefali Singh Bora from Mumbai, and Fucking Cola by Sophie Van De Pol from Netherlands were screened.
Music videos including Yaad Aave by Abhishek from Himachal Pradesh, Mei are chhor hu by Ashutosh Singh from Himachal and Humro Ke Ghar Pahunchai De by Abhishek Arun from Bihar were screened. 1 (One) an animation film by Ketan Pal from Uttrakhand was also screened.
Total 20 films were screened during the third day of the film festival including animated films, short films, documentaries, music videos and international films from countries like Poland, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Iran, Bangladesh, Cyprus and Israel.
Dr. Dev Kanya Thakur gave the vote of thanks on the occasion.
In International category, Best Documentary was given to ‘Burkinabe Bounty’, Special Jury Documentary to ‘Dance of Joy’, Best Short Film to ‘Are you a Volleyball’, Special Jury Short Film to ‘In the Mud’. In National category, Best Documentary Film was given to ‘Gyamo- Queen of The Mountain’, Best Documentary to ‘Chiaroscuro’, Special Jury Documentary Film to ‘Rockumentary’, Best Short Film to ‘Pamphlet’, Special Jury Short Film to ‘Dream One – Gurwinder’, Special Jury Short Film to ‘Meal’. In State category, Director Ms. Novita’s Documentary Film ‘Glide- Bir Billing’ was adjudged as Best Film.
