Palampur to have BDO office: CM
Addressing the people on the occasion of the State level Palampur Holi fair, at Palampur late evening on Wednesday, Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that a Block Development Office would be opened at Palampur in district Kangra after making necessary provisions in the budget to facilitate the people of the area.
He also mentioned about the plans to address the parking problem in Palampur by creating adequate parking infrastructure near the bus stand, which would benefit locals and tourists alike. In addition, efforts were underway to develop Palampur as an IT hub to promote employment opportunities in the region, he said.
The Chief Minister said that Kangra district was being developed as a tourism capital to provide the best tourism-related infrastructure to the tourists visiting the district, which would help in generating employment opportunities for the youth of the region. He said that the religious tourism would also be promoted in a big way in the district. Apart from building a heliport in Kangra, the expansion process of existing Kangra airport at Gaggal is on the anvil which would benefit not only Kangra district but also the entire state, he added.
“I belong to a family that has seen all ups and downs of life and that is why I am trying to serve the needy and common man as a Chief Minister,” said Sh. Sukhu. He reiterated that the state government was fully committed to refurbish the system to bring ‘Vyavstha Parivartan’. Orphaned children have been accorded the status of “Children of the State” and Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana has been started for them, under which the State Government will take care of around 6000 orphan children. The state government would provide adequate funds for their education, pocket money etc. Furthermore, the government will fund their air travel and three-star hotel stay once a year, he added.
The Chief Minister said that in the very first cabinet meeting, old pension was been restored which would benefit 1.36 lakh state government employees. He said that the state government has fulfilled its first guarantee and the remaining guarantees would also be fulfilled in a phased manner.
The Chief Minister also released the magazine of the State level Palampur Holi fair on the occasion.
