Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today paid rich tributes to Captain Vikram Batra, the lionhearted soldier from Himachal Pradesh on his birth anniversary, who laid down his life during the Kargil war in 1999.
Chief Minister said that the Nation was indebted for his spirit of sacrifice and dedication for maintaining the integrity of the nation. He said that Captain Vikram Batra displayed unparalleled courage which helped in capturing the Pt.4875 peak. He was posthumously awarded with the Param Veer Chakra, India’s highest and most prestigious award for valour and his actions during the 1999 Kargil War.
