Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today offered obeisance at the famous Jakhu temple in Shimla on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra festival and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state.
The Chief Minister said that this festival signifies the victory of good over evil. He also preformed the ceremony of burning of effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad on this occasion.
He said that Dussehra festival is celebrated with gaiety and fervor in the whole country including Himachal. This festival is celebrated as the victory of Dharma over Adharma and inspires us to live with dignity and work with the spirit of public welfare.
Jai Ram Thakur said that this year’s Dussehra festival was memorable for Himachal Pradesh when Prime Minister Narendra Modi specially visited Kullu to participate in the International Dussehra Festival celebrations. This was a symbol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering faith and reverence for the deity culture and traditions of Himachal, added the Chief Minister. He said that the Prime Minister also wished for the happiness and prosperity of the countrymen while witnessing the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Raghunath. He said that every Himachali was proud to be a witness of these historical moments as this was the first time when a Prime Minister of the country had visited the state and seeked the blessings of deities by participating in Kullu Dussehra.
Later the Chief Minister was honored by the Jakhu temple trust.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, HIMFED Chairman Ganesh Dutt Sharma, Trustee of Jakhu Temple Trust Madan Sharma, Madan Thakur, Ramesh Joshi, other trustees, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi, Superintendent of Police Dr. Monika and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
