CM inaugurates last cultural night of National Level Holi Utsav of Sujanpur

Announces HPSEB Ltd. Division and Jal Shakti Division at Sujanpur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated last cultural night of the National level Holi fair of Sujanpur in Hamirpur district late last evening by lighting the lamp.

While addressing the people on the occasion, Chief Minister said that fairs and festivals were the rich repository of our diverse and vivid culture and there was a need to preserve the same for the future generations. He said that due to Covid-19 pandemic most of the fairs and festivals could not be celebrated for last two years. He congratulated the people of the State in general and people of Sujanpur in particular on the auspicious occasion of Holi. He announced opening of HPSEB Ltd. Division and Jal Shakti Division at Sujanpur. He also announced upgradation of Veterinary Dispensary Majhog Sultanpuri to Veterinary Hospital. 

Jai Ram Thakur said that the state and the nation today was gradually coming out of this pandemic and credit for this goes to the indigenous vaccine provided to every citizen of the country free of cost. He said that all this was possible due to the able and strong leadership provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also thanked the people for their whole hearted cooperation to curb the spread of this virus.

Chief Minister said that the State Government has ensured welfare of every section of the society and development of every area of the State. He said that the very first decision of the present State Government was aimed at upliftment of senior citizens and providing better shelter to stray cattle.   

Chief Minister also released a colourful souvenir brought out by the Mela Committee on the occasion. 

Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal congratulated the district administration for successfully organizing this event. He said that the festival dates back to year 1796 and has gained popularity over the years. He thanked the Chief Minister for opening of HPSEB and Jal Shakti Divisions at Sujanpur.

Deputy Commissioner Hamirpur and Chairman Mela Committee Debsweta Banik presented a memento to the Chief Minister on this occasion. While welcoming the Chief Minister, she briefed the history of the national level Sujanpur Holi Utsav. She said that this festival was being celebrated after two years due to the corona pandemic. She also detailed about various events organised during this festival.

Indian Idol fame Ankush Bhardwaj regaled the gathering with his scintillating voice.

Deputy Chief Whip Kamlesh Kumari, MLA Hamirpur Narender Thakur, District BJP President Baldev Sharma, Vice Chairman HRTC Vijay Agnihotri, Vice Chairman Gau Sewa Aayog Ashok Sharma, State Convener Kaushal Vikas Nigam Naveen Sharma, Chairman APMC Ajay Sharma, Superintendent of Police Dr. Aakriti Sharma were present on the occasion among others.
