Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over the Young Achievers Award function organized by the Amar Ujala newspaper, here today. While appreciating the efforts of Amar Ujala Group, the Chief Minister said the organisation was discharging its duties with utmost responsibility along-with fulfilling the social concerns. He said that in the present scenario, the importance and role of media was increasing and the role of developmental journalism had become even more important in the society. The media not only gives new direction to nation but also encourages intellectual thinking. Jai Ram Thakur said that honouring the efforts of any person boosts the morale and also inspires others to move forward towards their cause. Today, youth were moving ahead with progressive thinking and working hard with the spirit of setting up their own enterprises instead of looking for employment opportunities. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has started several flagship schemes for the welfare of youth and to enable them to realize their dreams. The Mukhya Mantri Swavalamban Yojana launched by the present State Government was proving beneficial in promoting young entrepreneurs. The scheme has yielded encouraging results and has gained immense popularity amongst youth. Under this scheme, 4862 projects with an investment of Rs.860 crore have been sanctioned out of which about 2593 units with an investment of Rs. 430 crore have already been setup. As many as 7216 people have got employment nearer to their door-step under the scheme. He said that the state government has launched Chief Minister Start-up Scheme with a view to create an congenial environment that supports start-ups and innovative projects along-with making the educated youth from job seekers to job creators. He said that a venture fund of Rs 10 crore has been created by the state government under Him Start-up scheme. Many schemes were also being implemented by the government in the field of horticulture and agriculture, which were proving beneficial to the youth. Jai Ram Thakur honoured young entrepreneurs for their extraordinary achievements in various fields. State Editor, Amar Ujala Rakesh Bhatt welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed about the Young Achievers Award. He said that the State Government was moving ahead on the path of public welfare with strong determination, willpower and hard work. He said that the efforts of the State Government in attracting investments in the State have proved to be fruitful and have shown encouraging results. Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi, Director Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon, Superintendent of Police Dr. Monica, Amar Ujala State Head Dheeraj Roman and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
