Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the Regional Conference of Sanskrit Bharti virtually from Shimla today said that Sanskrit was the base of the rich cultural repository of our country and steps must be taken to promote and propagate Sanskrit language.
Chief Minister said that Sanskrit was the most ancient language and perfect among the great languages in the world. He said that it was the greatest treasure given to the world by ancient India and Sanskrit was now universally recognized as the language containing the earliest literature in the world. He said that Sanskrit literature was an ocean that contains many pearls of wisdom and the source for vedas, shastras, kavyas and the language of gods.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Sanskrit was the best tool to remove five types of social differences viz. linguistic, class, caste, sect and regional division. He said that people of every region in the country can easily relate with Sanskrit and that was the best tool to unite the country. He said that Sanskrit was the source of all the languages of the world and not a derivation of any language. Sanskrit is the divine mother language of the world, he added.
Chief Minister said that Sanskrit was the main base of our culture and tradition. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme today while highlighting the importance of Sanskrit said that several languages of the world have evolved from Sanskrit. He said that it was unfortunate that in the present era of cut throat competition, we all have distanced ourself from our roots. He said that the corona pandemic made the world realize the importance of our roots as lakhs of people returned to their villages and home towns during this crisis.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh was known as ‘Dev Bhoomi’ and thus the importance of ‘Dev Vani’ Sanskrit was far more important. He said that Sanskrit language has been made second language of Himachal Pradesh by the State Government in 2019 to ensure due recognition to this language. He said that younger generation must to taught this language so that they could feel proud of their rich culture and tradition. He said that a road map must be prepared to frame long term strategy to promote Sanskrit language.
Chief Minister said that the State Government would sympathetically consider the genuine demands of the qualified Shastri teachers. He also appreciated the efforts of Sanskrit Bharati to democratize and popularise Sanskrit by encouraging the use of simple Sanskrit in everyday conversational contexts.
Education Minister Govind SinghThakur said that Sanskrit language was a divine language which teaches the world universal brotherhood and coexistence. He said that the State Government was committed to popularize and promote Sanskrit language in day-to-day life. He said that the State Government has made Sanskrit as second official language of the State. He said that this has been done with an objective to promote this language. He said that hundreds of posts of Shastris were being filled in the Government schools to ensure that students could learn this ancient language.
Akhil Bhartiya Seh-Sangathan Mantri Sanskrit Bharti Jai Prakash Gautam while welcoming the Chief Minister said that Sanskrit language was one of the most magnificent, most perfect, most prominent and wonderfully sufficient literary instruments developed by the human mind. He said that Vedic Sanskrit language had already existed thousands of years earlier even before the infancy of the earliest prime languages of the world like Greek, Hebrew and Latin etc.
