Inaugurates and lays foundation stones for various projects worth Rs. 6.35 crore
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur took part in the Aarti at Yamuna Ghat in Paonta Sahib today evening. The Yamuna Ghat was illuminated by lighting 10,000 lamps on this occasion. Chief Minister also inaugurated the second cultural evening of three-day state level Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav being organized at Paonta Sahib. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth Rs. 6.35 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the fairs and festivals are the reflections of our rich culture. He said that fairs instill in us a sense of respect and dedication towards the culture. Apart from sharing and celebrating happiness, the people get an opportunity to know the culture of the state through these fairs and festivals. A similar occasion was provided by the state level Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav where people from various parts of Himachal as well as neighboring states including Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh participate in business, cultural and sports activities, said Chief Minister. He said that Sharad Purnima had a great relevance in our culture and there was an unbreakable relationship between Lord Krishna and Goddess Yamuna.
Chief Minister said that the State government had accelerated the pace of developmental works in Himachal despite the Corona pandemic. He said that the Double Engine government of Centre and State had fulfilled the long standing demand of Hati community spread over 153 Gram Panchayats of Sirmaur district by giving the ST status to the community.
Chief Minister also visited the exhibitions of various departments set up at the venue and released a souvenir published by the State Level Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav Samiti.
Earlier, the Chief Minister dedicated the Rs. 30 lakh Yamuna Ghat near Yamuna Van Vihar and Rs. 4.20 crore beautification of nallah between ward no.5 to 7 of Nagar Parishad Paonta Sahib. He also laid the foundation stone of 13 parks to be constructed in all the wards of Nagar Parishad at a total cost of Rs. 1.30 crore, two other parks of Rs. 20 lakh each and basketball court in Ward.7 to be constructed at a cost of Rs.15 lakh.
While speaking on the occasion, the MPP and Power Minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary said that during the tenure of the present State Government, the Paonta Sahib assembly constituency had witnessed an unprecedented development, for which the credit goes to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He said that two new sub-tehsils at Rajpur and Khodowala and two new Kanungo circles at Rajpura and Bhatanwali had been made functional in addition to 11 new Patwar circles in the constituency.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, State Level Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav Samiti Ram Kumar Gautam welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
MP and BJP State President Suresh Kashyap, Vice Chairman Food and Civil Supply Corporation Baldev Tomar, Chairman Zila Parishad Seema, BJP Mandal President Arvind Gupta, SP Sirmaur Raman Kumar Meena, Chairman Municipal Council Nirmal Kaur, Vice Chairman OP Kataria and officers of various departments and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
