When the festive season is around the corner there are several bank holidays followed throughout the month of August. According to the RBI list of holidays, the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks, and regional banks will remain closed between August 19 and August 23.
Major holidays are falling on these days, like Muharram, Raksha Bandhan, and Onam. And the holidays began with the start of the Parse New Year with an off for bankers in Belapur, Mumbai, and Nagpur.
Then August 19, as Muharram observed in Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, and Srinagar. The holidays began with Patriots Day in Imphal Muharram and Janamashtami, which fall on August 19 and August 30 respectively.

August 19: This is a holiday for Muharram and banks will remain shut in the states like Tripura, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and West Bengal.
August 20: Onam marks an important celebration for the people of Southern India, especially Kerala. So, banks will observe a holiday in southern states like Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
August 21: The banks in Kerala will be shut due to Thiruvonam.
August 22: This year Raksha Bandhan falls on Sunday, which is also a weekend off and a festive day.
August 23: In Kerala, the banks will remain closed due to Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi. Especially in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
