The Himachal Pradesh State Development council of ASSOCHAM today hailed the launch of Himachal’s new sports policy “Himachal Pradesh Swarnim Jyanati Sports Policy-2021”.
Policy was formally unveiled during a press conference at Dharamshala by the hon’ble minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Forests, Mr Rakesh Pathania.
Mr Jitender Sodhi, Chairman, ASSOCHAM Himachal Pradesh State Development Council and CMD, Ayush Group of Companies India said, “It is a well drafted policy which will encourage the youth of Himachal Pradesh towards sports activities & help our state being more sports centric.”
“Job quota and financial awards for sportsperson will encourage them to get medals in Olympics. New avenues to create more jobs and opportunities for youth of our state will be created by this policy. ASSOCHAM hopes the policy is also executed on the ground and offer all kind of support to the Govt of Himachal Pradesh in their endeavour towards growth and welfare of the state.” he added.
He congratulated Himachal government for reviewing the existing policy and formulate a comprehensive policy which was a long due.
In new policy there is an increase in the job quota for sportspersons from 2 to 3 per cent, increase in financial award for players winning gold medals to get Rs 3 crores, silver medals to get Rs 2 crores, bronze medals to get Rs 1 crore in Olympics, Paralympics, and super specialised sports academies with residential facilities at district level.
Sportsperson qualifying and participating in Olympics and Paralympics would also be given a cash award of Rs 15 lakh.
