“Audit Week” is being jointly celebrated in the three offices of Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) at Shimla i.e. the National Academy of Audit & Accounts (NAAA),Office of the Principal Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement), Himachal Pradesh andOffice of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Himachal Pradesh, under the aegis of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India from 21.11.2022 to 27.11.2022. A week long outreach activities aimed at increasing awareness of the organisation of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India among the general public and the key stake holders, have jointly been planned by the three IA&AD offices.
The “Audit Week” was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri R.D. Dhiman, Chief Secretary, Government of Himachal Pradesh on 21.11.2022 at the National Academy of Audit & Accounts, Shimla, followed by a panel discussion on “Accountability in Governance” which was chaired by the Chief Secretary. Shri Manish Kumar, Director General, NAAA, Shri Sushil Kumar, Principal Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement) and Ms. Chanda M. Pandit, Principal Accountant General (Audit) welcomed the Chief Guest. The Group Officers of all the three IA&AD offices, Indian Audit & Accounts Service Officers (2019 batch), the Indian Audit & Accounts Service Officer Trainees of 2021 batch and the Senior Audit/Accounts Officers were also present in the inaugural programme.
The discussion covered various facets of accountability, including expanding the horizon of audit, role of citizenry and digitisation in governance. The discussion also shed light on the need for awareness of respective organisational goals and continuous communication between various accountability mechanism in order to foster good governance.
Audit Week starts with celebration of the Audit Diwas on 16th November, which marks the day when the first Auditor- General took charge in the year 1860.Various outreach activities such as “Blood Donation Camp” at the Ridge, Cultural Programme, Quiz and Abhivyakti: National Photo Exhibition at the Gaiety, The Mall are being organised.
