Press Club of Shimla has organized a plantation program at Glen near Annandale, Shimla today. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was present as the chief guest. He planted a sapling of deodar and with the participation of all members of the club, prominent people of the area and students of the Government High School, Annandale about 100 saplings were planted.
On the occasion, the Governor appreciated the initiative of Shimla Press Club for organizing the plantation programme along with other social activities. “It is inspiring and we all have a duty towards the society. He said that the Press Club is discharging its duty efficiently”. He added that nature has given us a lot but it was our responsibility to be concerned for it and for this, we should participate in programs like plantation drives etc. He said that such programme propel a good message to the society.
While expressing satisfaction over the activities of the Shimla Press Club, the Governor said that Club has also provided him an opportunity to participate in this campaign against drug de-addiction. He added that we all need to work together to check the menace of drug addiction. For this, an awareness campaign would be started at school and college level, in which cooperation of police administration will also be taken, he added. He expressed hope that the Press Club would ensure its active participation in this direction.
Earlier, President Press Club of Shimla Ujjwal Sharma, welcomed the Governor. Chairman, HIMFED Ganesh Dutt, Director, Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon and other prominent persons were also present on the occasion.
