“Himachal Pradesh has made significant development in various sectors since its formation in 1948. The state has also acquired remarkable progress especially in road connectivity, education, health, power, rural development, tourism, agriculture and horticulture sectors. There were only 88 health institutions in1948 and now the number has touched the figure of 4320 health institutions. Apart from cent percent electrification of villages across the state, the state has a road network of 39354 kilometres which has become possible due to Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna. Major credit goes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who started this ambitious Yojna, he said.”

Jai Ram Thakur said the present State Government has also completed over four years and eight months in office and the government has ensured a balanced and all-round development of the State and welfare of poor and needy class.

“The present Government is spending over Rs. 1300 crore annually on providing social security pensions to the needy as compared to only Rs. 400 crore spent by the previous State Government. This shows and proves the commitment of the government towards fulfillment of its concerns. HIMCARE, Sahara Yojna, Mukya Mantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna and Mukhya Mantri Shagun Yojna have also provided much needed relief to the needy and poor,he added.

Jai Ram Thakur said the ambitious Mukhya Mantri Swawlamban Yojna implemented by the state government has proved to be a precursor in providing avenues of self-employment to youths and women also. Since its inception in 2018, investment to the tune of Rs. 721 crore has been made and 4377 projects completed so far. Beneficiaries have been provided with subsidies amounting to Rs. 200 crore. As many as 11674 un-employed beneficiaries have been benefited, he added.

He said that the Congress remained in power for about 50 years in the State as well as at the Centre. He said that the State Government brought home as many as 2.50 lakh people of the State stranded in different parts of the country during covid pandemic. He said that it was unfortunate that the opposition even did not refrain from politicizing this sensitive issue and even tried to mislead the people on the issue of vaccination.

Chief Minister said that the ‘Naari Ko Naman’ programme was launched for the State from Dharamshala under which 50 percent concession was being provided in fare to women in Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses. He said that this concession in bus fares to women is not a political move, rather it is a small step towards our resolve to ensure women welfare and empowerment.
