Chief Secretary R.D. Dhiman presided over the first meeting of the State Level Management Committee constituted under Himachal Pradesh Road Safety Fund and Activities Rules, 2022 here today.
In the meeting, it was approved to provide Rs. 3 crore to the Police department for procuring wheel clamp locks, traffic cones, barricades, alcohol sensors, intelligent transport management system and e-challan equipment.
An amount of Rs.3 crore was sanctioned to the Transport Department to continue the road safety awareness campaign and Rs.4.50 crore for purchasing 15 Electric Vehicle Interceptor vehicles. As per the proposal of Himachal Road Transport Corporation Rs. 2 crore were approved for the purchase of five cranes and ten cutters. Apart from Himachal Road Transport Corporation, these cranes will be made available to the general public.
The Chief Secretary directed the Health Department to complete the work of level one, two and three trauma centers in the state at the earliest. He also directed the Health department to submit a detailed proposal for Advanced Cardiac Life Support Ambulance before the committee.
He asked all the departments to work in coordination to check road accidents. He said that necessary steps should be taken by the Education department in a time bound manner to make students aware about road safety.
Director Transport and Member Secretary, State Level Management Committee, Anupam Kashyap apprised that the earlier decisions to ensure road safety were taken under the Himachal Pradesh Road Safety Activities Scheme-2006, now as per the directions of the committee constituted by the Supreme Court the decisions would be taken under State Road Safety Fund and Activities Rules, 2022.
It was also apprised in the meeting that Rs 2.50 crore have been released to the Education Department for setting up road safety clubs in 135 colleges and 1879 Senior Secondary schools.
Various issues were also discussed in detail in the meeting.
Principal Secretary Public Works Bharat Khera, Principal Secretary Industries R.D. Nazeem, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subhasish Panda and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
