This is to bring to your notice that HASTPA is organizing this 1
st MTB Himachal Janjehli, in
association with Himachal Tourism and government of Himachal Pradesh from 23rd to 26th
June 2022.
Around 60 riders from around the country are expected to participate in this unique inititive
which is aimed at promoting the cycling culture in the state and the country and showcase to
the world the beauty of the terrain Himachal has to offer to the avid cyclists from around the
world.
We have participants from 6 Districts of Himachal Pradesh (Shimla,Solan , Bilaspur Kangra
,Manadi & Kullu ) 8 different States of India (Uttrakhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi,
UP, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh , & J&K). We also have representation from Delhi
Police, SSB , Army & Indian Military Academy.
The Race is scheduled to be Flag-off is on the International Olympic Day on 23rd of June
on the historic ridge Shimla. The cyclist will take a round of the the main town of Shimla
showcasing our rich tradition heritage and culture to the world and also being the showcase
ride for the people of the state .This would be followed by the main race flag off on 24th of
June 2022.again from Mashobara Shimla and finish at Janjehli on 26th of June 2022 after 3
competitive stages.
We will cover the distance of 180km and go to the Maximum Elevation around 2750 metres
at the base of Shikari mata temple and Minimum Elevation of 800 metres i.e. Tattapani Over
the Mighty Satluj river.
The main purpose of this event is to promote cycling tourism in Himachal and specially the
beautiful tracks and trails the state has to offer, and also challenge the beautiful and mighty
Himalayan Climbs.
In this event we have some very exciting riders including state and national champions like
Prathvi Raj Singh Rathoree and Akshit Gaur, the youngest Boy rider of age 10 years Kaustav
Singh from Shimla & the Oldest Male Rider of age 60 years Rajesh Gupta. In the girls we
have 7 participants and the youngest girl rider of age 13 years Shambhavi Singh from Shimla
& Oldest rider of age 25 years Astha Dobhal from uttrakhand.

Chaba – Sunni – Tattapani – Alsindi-Kot Bank – Churag –
Chindi. (Night Halt at Chindi)
Day 3 – 25th June
Chindi-Chindi School – Kot-Karsog market – Sanarli-Shankar
Dehra – Raigarh – Bulah-Janjehli market. (Night Halt at
Janjehli)
Day 4 -26th June
Janjehli – Jarol – Baniyaad – Thunag – Jarol–Janjehli(Night
Halt at Janjehli)
We are very happy to put up this unique initiative for tourism under the “Nayi Manzelein
naye rahein” program of the department which aims to take tourism and allied actitivities to
the unexplored beautiful areas of our state , in association with HASTPA who have done
good and pioneering work over the years to promote this very exciting adventure sport in the
Indian Himalayas. The Event will showcase our beautiful areas and countryside to the world
and would help us in promoting this exciting adventure sport which has immense potential in
the state , Said Devesh Kumar Principal Secretary Tourism and Civil Aviation .
Himachal and its terrain provides a great base for a sport like mountain biking. We have seen
how the sport has grown so well in our state. This MTB championship will the first of its
kind aimed at identifying best cycling routes in the beautiful hinterland of our state and also
the cycling talent in the country thus making Himachal one of the favorite destinations for
mountain biking in the country. We are seeing a great response from all across India and
Himachal and I’m sure this will be a big chance for all these young cyclists to come forward
