Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, today visited the Gurudwara Sahib at Cart Road, to pay his obeisance to the founder of the Sikkhism Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on his birth anniversary, being celebrated as Prakashotsav all over the world and participated in the Shabad Kirtan organized to mark the celebration.
The Governor greeted the members of the Sikh Community on the auspicious day and said that Guru Nanak Dev ji preached love, peace and communal harmony to strengthen the bond of universal brotherhood. He said that Guru Nanak Dev ji had been a great soul who founded Sikhism and showed society the path of salvation by spreading the cult of devotion to God and compassion for mankind. He also stressed on adopting the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in everyday life and to serve humanity.
The Governor was presented with a Siropa, photograph of Guru Nanak Dev ji and a Kripan by the President of the Shri Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Sardar Jasvinder Singh.
