An agreement to expand and strengthen Inter-State movement and Transport Services was signed between Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Governments at New Delhi today. Principal Secretary Transport HP Government K. K. Pant and Principal Secretary Transport UP Government Rajesh Kumar Singh signed the agreement on behalf of respective Governments.
According to the new agreement, State Transport Authority UP will ply buses on 19 routes covering 3594 kms in Himachal Pradesh whereas HRTC will ply on 27 routes covering 3238 kms in Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was signed for twenty years. This Inter State Agreement would go a long way in strengthening the socio-economic relations between the two states.
According to the previous agreement signed in 1985, State Transport Authority UP would ply buses on 10 routes covering 2165 kms in Himachal Pradesh whereas HRTC would ply on 11 routes covering 2142 kms in Uttar Pradesh.
Secretary State Transport Authority HP Ghanshyam Chand and Secretary State Transport Authority UP Bhim Sen Singh were also present on the occasion.
