Governor Bandaru Dattatraya today visited Indian Institute of Technology at Kamand in Mandi District. He interacted with Deans, faculty members and coordinators of Centre besides students.
Director, IIT Mandi Prof. T.A. Gonsalvis welcomed the Governor and apprised him about the academic and other activities of the institute. He said that IIT Mandi within 10 years has become a leader in academics in India, making a mark globally. The institute is working with people and government of Himachal Pradesh to bring eco-friendly development and industries to the state.
While interacting with students, the Governor appealed them to serve the people after completion of their studies. He said that not to depend on government jobs but to start their own industries so that they could provide jobs to others as well. He further added that in this way students could work for nation and society. He stressed on developing scientific temperament with ethical values and character building.
The Governor congratulated the institute on achieving 13th rank of engineering in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) among all 23 IITs’. He also appreciated innovation curriculum and design oriented curriculum of Bachelor in Technology. He also appreciated their eco-friendly utilization of dry pine needles.
He also visited Centre for Design and Fabrication of Electronic Services Lab.
Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur was also present on the occasion.
