Engineers Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Nirman Bhawan here today under the chairmanship of Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works Department Er. Raj Kumar Verma in which 70 engineers including Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Er. Raj Kumar Verma said that engineers are the backbone of the society as they play an important role in the building the infrastructure of the Nation and States. He said that the projects should be completed within the stipulated period time as this will not save cost escalation but also deliver goods to the people in time.
Chief Engineer, PWD Shimla Zone Er. Lalit Bhushan urged the engineers to work with renewed zeal and dedication keeping in view the latest techniques and technology. He said that we should feel proud that Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarya, an engineer has been honoured with India’s highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 1955.
Discussions were also held on improvement in working of department by taking lead in new technology and ePMS initiatives.
Three Assistant Engineers and two Junior Engineers under 4th Circle Shimla were also honoured with mementos on the occasion.
