28 complaints related to violation of Model Code of Conduct disposed

Chief Electoral Officer, Himachal Pradesh, C. Paulrasu informed here today that in view of bye-elections for Mandi Assembly Constituency and Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly Constituencies, strict instructions have been given to ensure compliance of the Model Code of Conduct applicable in the respective districts in letter and spirit.

He said that directions have been given to District Election Officers and concerned departments to take necessary action for timely and speedy disposal of complaints related to violation of Model Code of Conduct during the bye-election process. Till now 47 complaints have been received with the Election Department out of which 28 complaints have been disposed off and remaining complaints are being processed at various levels. He said that the complaints related to the Model Code of Conduct are being dealt with by the Office of Chief Electoral Officer and such complaints are generally not sent to the level of the Election Commission.
