Deputy Resident Commissioner Vivek Mahajan informed that Govt of Himachal Pradesh sent a special train carrying 271 Himachalis stranded at Delhi late last evening to Una in Himachal Pradesh.
He said that elaborate arrangements were made by the RC office as per the directions of Secretary Information and Public Relations Rajnish who is also the nodal officer for Delhi state . He said that coordination was done with Delhi govt to send stranded Himachalis to their homes. He said that permission for running special train from Delhi was sought by state government for this because shramik trains were permitted to run only for a minimum distance of 500km. He informed that on the directions of state government, Sh Rajneesh, nodal Officer worked out the plan for boarding all the registered passengers in the train by taking up the matter with Ministry of Railways and Delhi Government.
He further said that all the registered persons were asked by the RC office to report at Ambedkar Stadium in batches from 12 pm onwards to ensure social distancing and added that passengers were screened medically and were also provided food packets for lunch and dinner during their journey. He further informed that 15 buses were also deployed to transport them conveniently from the screening center at Ambedkar stadium to railway station.
